Our latest poster brings to our children a remarkable human achievement, which the French mathematician Simon Laplace calls: one of the great achievements of mankind. The poster highlights the features of ‘modern’ numbers (place values, base 10 and use of 0), describes their origin and evolution, their travel from Babylon to India and from there to Baghdad and Italy and Europe. And shows the way to binary numbers which are fundamental in computing.
